Bursa Malaysia and butterfly effect

Wonder if there is any correlation between the these two events. Today The Star has release this news:
Market experts caution investors

"Interest in penny stocks continues to dominate trading activity but market experts have cautioned investors to know the fundamentals of the company shares they are buying.

They say interest in penny stocks is a function of a robust market and that Bursa Malaysia should come down hard on any stock rigging done by market syndicates."

And here goes the market performance today:

It will be interesting if we are able to tell is there any correlation between the two. If the answer is yes, then how much actually is the magnitude caused by the news...

So hard to be unique with 6 billion minds on the Earth

That day I was surprise to see this computer game in the shopping mall, the game title is "99 nights"... it's exactly the same name of my blog. I swore I never know this game when I named my blog. It's not even my initial intention to name this blog such name, it just way too difficult to get one back then, almost all common name had been taken... just out of convenience, after I tried a few and when this name is not taken, I just adopted it.

I remember many years back, I already musing the possibility of having a digital photo frame. Then 2 years later, I saw this selling commonly in the market.

I think with 6 billions mind in the world, it really difficult to claim yourself is a unique one. Compare to the universal, how tiny actually we are.

Google Squared

Because of the need of my job, I have attended a training of Google App recently, and come across this experimental new software of Google - Google Apps.

It kind of arouse my interest, by simply typing a search term like "World richest people", "cars" etc, it will try to build a fact table. I found the data are not exactly accurate, but Google is moving in the right direction. You can even create new data field or record on the fly. Give it a try yourself.

Google Chrome vs. Firefox

I used to be a loyal user of Firefox. When Google Chrome was just released, I did test it out but conclude the browser is too primitive compared to Firefox (especially the lack of add-on features) and decided it is not my cup of tea.

Not until I get frustrated with the Firefox performance problem lately. I do notice for Firefox 3.0 after you use it long enough without restarting, it tends to become slower and consume quite a lot of memory. Hence, I revisit Google Chrome and give it a second chance.

First, I try to find out the equivalent of search bar of Firefox in Google chrome. Immediately I fall in love with the Google address bar. The single address bar allow you to key in the URL directly (it's obvious enough), and it's also a Google search bar (see below)

Best still, with a bit minor configuration, I can use it as wikipedia search, by typing a "w" with a space, it will trigger a wiki search:

Then, I had thought the back button in google chrome does not allow go backward nth page like what Firefox, good to find myself wrong, you just need to right click on the back button.

I will still think Firefox is a great tool for development purpose for its add on like firebug, color picker, and the auto paging (which allow you to do google search and display all result by just scrolling only) etc.

But for quick internet browsing itself, I think Google Chrome do deserve its place.

My own stock investment experience

Just reviewed my investment records since my 1st day entered into KLSE. For the past two years, my investment result is back to break even.

After vet through my past transactions, I learned one thing, which is a few doom investments (~ 7 counters) has write off more than multiple tens of my winning bouts.

Now, I got to ask myself, what's the right strategy?

1) Should i seriously consider an exit strategy?

2) Or, my strategy is actually right, if i were not holding to some of the lose counters, I will not have chance to actually come back and make money when they rebound.

That's an interesting question beyond my average IQ to answer. May be some pundits will able to answer that.

A sleepless night

Unable to fall into sleep, and decide to write something ... just something, and don't even have an idea what I should write about.

Looking back to the past and compare to what a person am I now, I think it must be quite different. My social circle is getting smaller, and never been a time I feel so unmotivated to meet new people. I still truly cherish the real friendship, but most the time just prefer to retreat to my own safe haven.

I probably have verdict my own achievement, that is, man, this is that far you can reach. Was doing well in the school, and after work for many years, suddenly find out how an average Joe I am. I am just no more than an ordinary man that you can find on the street everyday. I'm not complaining, it's never my wish to be a great person. I'm just, without knowing it, becoming someone corrupted, a materialistic guy.

Our man talk is always revolving how to make more money, dirty jokes, and the glorious past. The only thing that connect me to the younger time is the weekend badminton session. That's the time I feel like a boy, may be that's the reason I am so passionate about the game, my adrenalin run high is one thing, that's also the bridge to my distant past.

No doubt my family mean a lot of thing to myself. Becoming a man is about responsibility. I will be more and more familiar about this midlife crisis. The fear of losing job, losing hair, losing health grow everyday... :) No, I'm not complaining, I'm just too pampered in the past, who feel a bit nervous when need to shoulder this responsibility. I guess my best friend's death in a way also wake me up that I realize this is real life, this is not a dream. The life is never been so real.

You know, sometimes you will just feel like asking yourself the meaning behind all this. And this is the night. I remember this conversation with this interesting old man. He is considering to embrace Christianity, he is very frank that facing death without knowing what's laying ahead is quite dreadful. He doubt the existence of the god, and it's not his character to believe in the religion in our convention world. However, when someone grow older, religion is like the wood for you while in you were floating in the middle of ocean. I'm very click with his view, and surprisingly know someone is having the same line of thought as me. I am not come to the stage yet, but I guess what I may walk his path one day :)

It's late in night now, tomorrow is another day.
